Learn the faith

Orthodox Christianity, from the beginning

Whether you are discovering Orthodoxy for the first time or deepening a lifelong faith, start here: the Creed the Church has confessed for seventeen centuries, a complete video catechism, and reading you can trust.

New to Orthodoxy?

Begin with worship

Orthodoxy is not first a set of ideas but a life of worship. The best introduction is simply to stand in the services — the theology of the Church is sung, seen and breathed there. Come to Vigil or Liturgy, then let the reading below give words to what you have experienced.

Fr Vladimir is always glad to talk with enquirers — before or after any service, or by appointment.

The Symbol of Faith

The Nicene Creed — the faith of the Church in one breath

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Only-begotten, begotten of the Father before all ages… Who for us men and for our salvation came down from the heavens, and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and became man. And He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried; and He rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures. And ascended into the heavens, and sitteth at the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the living and the dead; Whose kingdom shall have no end.
